Topic for May 12: Job and the Mythology of Suffering
The topic for each discussion will be included in future calendar listing once available.
The Old Testament story of Job is most commonly revered as a parable of faithfulness: how we may suffer, yet if we remain faithful to God, we will be rewarded and receive God’s favor. Jan Peppler, Ph.D.c will provide new insights into the reading of Job. Group discussion will question how this story permeates our culture and perpetuates a mythology of sacred suffering.
